What is a Venue?
A venue is a building or facility with one or more floor plans. Each floor plan is an image overlaid on the map at its real-world coordinates. Use venues to:
- Navigate indoors — see floor layouts while tracking team positions
- Switch floors — jump between levels of a multi-story building
- Coordinate coverage — ensure every floor is patrolled or monitored
Venues require the Venues feature flag to be enabled for your organization.
Creating a Venue
Venue creation is currently available on the web dashboard only. You can view venues and switch floors on mobile.

Viewing Venues on the Map
Venue and Floor Selectors
When a venue is nearby or selected:
- The Venue Selector appears on the map
- Tap to choose a venue
- The Floor Selector shows available levels
- Tap a floor level to switch the overlay
The floor plan image renders on top of the map tiles at the calibrated position.
Floor Plan Caching
Floor plan images are cached locally for fast loading:
- Images are stored on the device filesystem via Capacitor
- Works offline after initial download
- Cache expires after 7 days
Command Search
You can find venues quickly using the command search (Cmd+K / Ctrl+K):
- Type “venue”, “floor plan”, “indoor”, “building”, or “facility”
- Results show matching venues
- Select one to open its detail view
Common Questions
Can I have multiple venues?
Yes. Each organization can have any number of venues, each with multiple floors.
What image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, and WebP. Images are converted to JPEG on upload for optimal storage.
How accurate is the floor plan positioning?
Accuracy depends on how carefully you calibrate the corner bounds. Use satellite map view for best alignment with the building footprint.
Can I update a floor plan image?
Yes. Upload a new image to the same floor — it replaces the existing one.
Is venue management available on mobile?
Currently, creating and editing venues is web-only. Mobile supports viewing floor plans on the map and switching between floors.
